A training session can introduce a useful tool without showing whether learners can use it independently. The practical question is what people can do after the lesson.
Skills support participation
The Commission places digital skills within its effort to bridge the digital divide and support a human-centred digital environment. See the European Commission digital skills overview.
Make the task specific
Imagine a fictional community course teaching participants to organise files and share a document. A short supervised exercise could reveal a different need from a questionnaire asking whether everyone enjoyed the session.
An account of training should separate participation, confidence and demonstrated ability. Those measures answer different questions and should be labelled accordingly.
